What is Mixed Media?

Very simly, mixed media is any combination of media. The types of media used varies between each artist.

Douglas E. Taylor

For Douglas E. Taylor, mixed media involes a collage of printed fragments from his various printmaking processes and Oriental rice papers on canvas. Douglas adheres the collage with an acrylic medium. These layers are then integrated with layers of acrylic paint, inusing regular, iridescent (pearlesant) and iridescent interference colors. These one of a kind pieces are created on canvas and protected with several layers of heavy duty mat finish acrylic varnish.

Ingrid Evans

Ingrid Evans’ mixed media artworks combine the use of hand-made paper materials with both arcylic painting and printmaking techniques.

Matt Dodge

Matt Dodge begins his mixed media process with a photograph. The images are then printed on archival photographic paper or canvas and are then hand-colored and hand-etched resulting in “Sculpted Photographs.”
