To learn more about Lake Tahoe facts click this link and also explore this web site.  Many of the scenic photographs from the Vista Gallery artists/photographers depict the area in any of it’s four seasons.

Lake Tahoe is about a four hour drive to San Francisco and the Bay Area of northern California, the wine country, the Pacific coast, and Yosemite National Park.

Sacramento, the capital city of California is about two hours. The California gold country is an hour and one half away down the western slope of the Sierra Nevada range.  The foothills are beautiful and full of historic little towns to explore year round.

Reno, Nevada is about 45 minutes to the north east. The Reno community provides more than gaming and entertainment. The University of Nevada, Reno fosters cultural events and educational opportunities associated with a major university.  All of the shopping opportunities of major retailers are in Reno and Carson City, Nevada. From the north shore of Lake Tahoe, it is less than a half hour to Carson City, the capital of Nevada. This area also provides many amenities and shopping opportunities and cultural events.  Not far from Carson City is the historic silver mining district of Virginia City.

Incline Village, Nevada is six miles, from Vista Gallery and is the home of Sierra Nevada Collage.  It is a private four year liberal arts college with an innovative “green” campus.

Historic Truckee, California, only 15 minutes from Vista Gallery is a slightly larger community than Tahoe’s north shore and features an extension campus to Rockland, California’s Sierra College , part of a large community college system.

The Lake Tahoe basin provides a micro-climate that is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than the neighboring Truckee area. See this link concerning long time climate information for Tahoe City. Tahoe City receives more snow fall and precipitation than the Tahoe Vista and Kings Beach area.  Because of the global warming trend weather and climate has been more unpredictable. For current weather information click this link.

Kings Beach is the largest bigger village, next to Tahoe Vista, California.
