About the Print Editions

Each piece is an original hand pulled limited edition print. These etchings are limited by the durability of the printing plate. The maximum number of impressions from a polymer plate is between 40 to 50, after that the plate will wear down leaving faded areas in the image. The work is printed on Japanese Mulberry paper, then I chine colle’ the images onto Hahnemuhle Copperplate rag paper. Each print is then numbered “E.V.” (Edition Varie), because of variations on inking and hand-coloring.

El Capitan II

“El Capitan II” an etching by Elizabeth Paganelli

These are two of twelve etchings,  images in a series from sketches from her experiences and observations in Yosemite National Park in California. All of the artwork images are 5x 7 inches and printed on 11 x 15.5 inch Hahnemuhle Copperplate rag paper.  The etchings are created on polymer plates, which limits the edition to only 50 prints.  They are numbered “E.V.”(edition varie) because of variations on the inking and hand coloring of some prints.

The other ten images will be featured on this page as soon as possible.  They include three of Vernal Falls, another one of El Capitan, one of Nevada Falls, two of the Merced River, one of Half Dome, and one of Highway 140 Going To Yosemite.  Five of the images are horizontal and seven are vertical.

An Artist Statement about the Yosemite and Tuscan Series
This series spans a vast area of time and space. While one depicts a certain place at a certain moment the actual creation is much larger than that.

With these particular prints I am using polymer plates, traditional etching inks, and Hahnemuhule Copperplate rag paper to transform my vision. The starting point for each piece began while I was on the road, hiking through Yosemite, walking through the Tuscan hills, traveling somewhere in a car, a train, or a bus, looking out the window as life whizzed by.

I love to travel.  I have always felt a need to travel a great distance to discover my path. When traveling my world is different.  I’m not preoccupied or consumed with the busyness of life. I give each moment the time it deserves.

These two series are composed of years of looking and a desire to remember.  Each piece is the result of an entire experience, the observation, the mood, the thoughts and feelings.  They are my signatures, irreplaceable and personal, yet a simple translation of the moment so that others can interpret them and perhaps for a moment, go to places I have been.

The current price is $140 per print, unframed.

Paganelli also has a simuliar series done from sketches of her travels through Italy.
