In Spirit
You are my inspiration and my muse You are the wind's song and the star's too You are the freedom of the wide sky And the point of the eagles eye You are the power of the horse And the running river's course You are magic created in love Connecting the higher with the above To the warmth of day found in the heart And the most distant light in the deep dark

Sweet Surrender, a mixed-media on linen canvas by Douglas E. Taylor, Over-all size: Over-all size: 32.25 x 49 inches
$6,315 framed as displayed with a 1.5 inch wide and 1.25 inch deep, cherrywood faced moulding with black sides
This image evolved into a tribute to John Denver’s song, Sweet Surrender: “Sweet, sweet surrender, like a fish in the water, like a bird in the air. Live, live without care, like a fish in the water, like a bird in the air.” - the chorus as sung and written by John Denver The poetry that I see in nature is a reflection of that song and my own philosophies and observations. A fish is a part of the water, like a bird is a part of the sky, they are not separate; they are one with their element. As a human being, I feel I am part of my element, which is humanity living in a foundation of nature. Sometimes that is easy to forget, attempting to balance our skills with technology, and not always addressing the humanity of science and technology. I see technology and science having a responsibility to express the best of our humanity. Our intellectual and technical abilities can be a tool to express the very best of ourselves, as does the arts. CLICK this link to see a 20 x 31.5 inch gicle’e print of Sweet Surrender
