Tom Beebe is a woodworking artist whose style is difficult to classify. His range is from subtle to bold and from traditional to contemporary. Tom combines old world techniques with innovative modern technology. Regardless of style, at the heart of Tom’s work is his attention detail.
Tom believes woodworking is one of those lucky vocations where you never feel that you have exhausted the opportunity to change your approach or improve your skills. He is fascinated by the interaction of concepts, materials, and techniques. He has received formal training in Marquetry, veneer and inlay techniques from some of the finest craftsmen in the world, including David Marks, Paul Schurch, William Ing, and Larry Robinson. Each year, he travels to at least one training program for inspiration and learning.
Anyone who sees Tom’s work can sense the attention and heart put into the process and can also sense how fully invested Tom is to realize each new idea. Tom loves designing from start to finish, but he also loves creating customer intimacy by working with a client early in the process to translate their words and thoughts into custom furniture and built-ins. Eighty percent of Tom’s work is commissioned.
Tom’s work has been featured in Moonshine Ink’s Creative Brew edition two times and in October, 2011, he won a juried art award at the Every Day Objects Juried Art Exhibit sponsored by Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District for his combination shelf and mirror piece titled Me, My Shelf, and I. His work is in many private residences throughout California, Nevada, and other parts of the US. Tom welcomes visitors at his woodworking studio located at 10434 River Park Place, Building B, Suite 3, Truckee, CA.
